Notes
- The purpose of this page is to inform
the public and local emergency managers of the best available predictions
of oncoming
tropical storm activity in time of need. During a time of threat to Collier County from a tropical siturbance,
updates are posted upon receipt, usually
about
5 and
11
am
and
pm
daily.
- The HurrTrak® program
is used to extrapolate the data mathematically from the current
National Hurricane Center Advisory, which is linked in the home
page.
- The spiral rain-bands associated with the tropical system contain
the threats from winds and rain. When you watch the spiral
rain-bands on weather radar seen on TV/Internet approaching you,
remain alert.
- For tropical cyclones, tornado activity is generally found in
the spiral bands associated with the right, front leading quarter
of the system. For example, in a northward-heading system,
tornado activity is generally expected in the North-East quadrant,
etc.
- Tidal predictions are taken from SaltwaterTides.
Times are local. Heights are in feet. Predictions for Bonita Beach
are taken at Little Hickory Island; Naples at north end of Naples
Bay;
Marco
Island
at Caxambas
Pass.
